Latest Publication by PhD Student Nana Agyemang (Murelli Lab)

Congrats to our PhD student Nana Agyemang of the Murelli lab (Brooklyn College, CUNY) on his first-author publication “Divergent Synthesis of a Thiolate-Based alpha-Hydroxytropolone Library with a Dynamic Bioactivity Profile” published in RSC Advances.
This manuscript describes Nana’s development of a new strategy to access substituted hydroxytropolones, and its use in identifying new molecules with sub-micromolar activity against three human pathogens – hepatitis B virus, herpes simplex virus-1, and Cryptococcus neoformans.
Biological studies were carried out in collaboration with the Tavis, Morrison, and Donlin labs at Saint Louis University School of Medicine.
